Runswick Bay has a wide sandy bay once used by fishermen, now enjoyed by tourists, cliffs
at each end, combined with the delightful selection of brightly painted cottages, make it a very enjoyable place to take a stroll. Please note that if dog owners wish to take their dogs with them then this is allowed with the usual 'Poop a Scoop' rules applying. This is a good place for fossil hunters with small clay type rocks being easy to split at the far end of the beach to reveal their contents.
Buildings of interest include the tiny Methodist Chapel, the Institute (a local meeting place that was opened in 1870)the Loft, Old Lifeboat House and the former Coastguard house which is said to be the only thatched roof cottage on this stretch of coast, in fact another one exists further inland a few miles North of here at Hinderwell.
