Local Sights

Goathland village famous as the main setting for the popular television series "Heartbeat". Exhibition Centre, Malyan Spout waterfall,Roman Road and other items of interest, make a visit to Goathland worthwhile.

Goathland village has been made famous in recent years by being the main setting for the popular television series "Heartbeat" and the station was used to represent Hogwarts Station in the recent Harry Potter film.
The Goathland Exhibition Centre has displays covering all aspects of local life.

The 70ft high Mallyan Spout waterfall can be reached by a footpath close to the Mallyan Spout Hotel which offers the opportunity for a pleasant walk.

Enjoy a walk of some 3.5 miles along the now disused track of the railway line built by George Stephenson between Goathland and Grosmont.

Whitby District/Esk valley youth club. Providing Youth Events and activities for the area, with past events including - Games and nonalcoholic cocktail bar in Goathland village hall, Gospel concert in Whitby, skating at Billingham Forum and Sailing. Research is currently being carried out to bring you further details of Goathland's rich heritage.

The rich past of Goathland has left us with, Standing Stones, Ann's Cross and in Wheeldale a mile of Roman Road which runs North from the Roman camp at Cawthorn, dating back to around the 1st century AD the road is owned by English Heritage.
