The future of farming

Farming is very much a way of life and at present is seen by many who do it as very much a labour of love rather than a way of earning a living as prices for the produce have been declining at the same time as all the materials that farmers must purchase in order to carry on producing high quality food have been increasing. The future of farming is now, more than ever before in the past, in the hands of the people who eat the produce and who enjoy the countryside. Think on the next time you are in a supermarket given the choice between cheap cuts from abroad and home produced good food, or the next time you see a freshly built dry stone wall as you walk past enjoying the countryside.
