Egton Bridge

Situated quarter of a mile south of Egton at the bottom of the valley Egton Bridge is a community divided in two by the track of the Middlesbrough to Whitby main line railway and the River Esk.
There are two Public Houses in Egton Bridge, a school, (St Hedda's), a railway station and St Hedda's Catholic Church. The Gooseberry Show takes place in Egton Bridge every year. More information about this event can be found at Egton Bridge Gooseberry Show.

Egton Bridge is a picturesque village set on the banks of the River Esk. The stone bridge the was washed away by floods in the 1930s and it was rebuilt in 1992 in style of the original one. St Hedda's Church is worth visiting for Stations of the Cross and Postgate shrine.
Father Nicholas Postgate was born in Egton Bridge, though the precise location has been the subject of some debate. He was executed in 1679 for continuing to practise his Roman Catholic Faith in the area.
