Archeological Sites

The Esk Valley is littered with archeological and industrial heritage sites,with a typical example being:
The rich past of Goathland which has left us with, Standing Stones, Ann's Cross and in Wheeldale a mile of Roman Road which runs North from the Roman camp at Cawthorn, dating back to around the 1st century AD the road is owned by English Heritage.

The community pages on the eskvalley.com web site contain some details and as more information is gathered we will include it, until then a simple scan of the areas ordnance survey map will show much of what there is to see in the area.
