Beckwith House - Self Catering Accommodation
Beckwith House is situated in Ainthorpe a small village in the heart of the 'North York Moors National Park' in the lovely Esk Valley.
It is within easy walking distance of Castleton and Danby where there are two general stores and an excellent bakery plus a number of pubs and cafes that serve meals. It is 5 mins from the 'National Park Moors Centre' at Danby.
The NYM National Park has the largest area of unfenced heather moorland in England with the moors a carpet of purple when the heather blooms in August. The 'Park' provides excellent walking with the Moors Bus passing the door.
Whitby is 20 mins away with the dramatic Dinosaur coast and many quaint villages nearby.
The beautiful Esk Valley railway to Whitby stops in Danby and Castleton and the Grosmont to Pickering Steam Railway is only 15 mins. away.
We are in the heart of 'Captain Cook' country and surrounded by the area where 'Heartbeat' is filmed.
Refurbishment of this former Edwardian children's home has provided two spacious dwellings with Beckwith House being available for holidays in August. It is ideal for families or three couples.
There is a large sunny sitting room with French windows that open onto the large south facing garden and patio. There is a separate dining room and a fitted kitchen with cooker, microwave, washing m/c and fridge freezer. There is also a spacious entrance hall with WC and shower. Guests are welcome to enjoy the large garden.
We live next door at Davison House, enjoy having visitors and are happy to provide advice about the area.
Upstairs there are three double bedrooms; one with a double bed and two twin bedded rooms all with superb views. The bathroom has a bath, hand-basin and WC.
The house is centrally heated and all rooms have views to either Danby Dale to the south or the Esk Valley and the open Moors to the north.
A cot and extra bed can be provided by arrangement. Linen is included but towels are not provided. A well behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement.
There is ample off-road parking for several cars.
Please note, this is a non-smoking house.
We previously held a three star grading from the English Tourist Board and although nothing has changed we have not renewed this registration as we are now only open during August.
